one man's mission to build the ultimate mobile home
welcome.
my name is nick and a few years ago i bought this bus, a Leyland Tiger Alexander N-Type, which i am currently converting into a country-cottage-on-wheels, to use as my main home for the foreseeable future. i've been living in it full-time for the past four years and although not yet completely "finished", it is extraordinarily comfortable and wonderful to live in and I cannot imagine ever wanting to give it up and move back into a "normal house" again.

as much as possible, i’ve been documenting the design & build process, and the purpose of this website is to make these resources (blogs, photos & drawings, specs, advice, etc) available to other people interested in taking on a similar project, or just finding out more about the project and/or the life it enables me to live.
please have a look around, and feel free to get in touch - i'd love to hear what you are dreaming up and if I can help I will.
recently, i have finished writing up the story of the conversion so far for ‘the biggest book of yes’, a collection of 49 adventure stories, due for publication on August 1st, which you can read more about and pre-order here. i'm very excited to share this tale and very much hope you enjoy reading it as much as i enjoyed writing it!

the biggest book of yes
over the past six months, i've been busy writing a chapter of the 'Biggest Book of Yes', a compilation of 49 short adventure stories guaranteed to inspire you to chase your dreams - whatever they may be or however crazy they may seem.
the book is crammed to the brim with juicy tales of mishap, mischief and misadventure, from ordinary folk just like you and me.
the handmade house project
since i began converting the bus, i've come to know a whole host of people doing similar builds and conversions. the handmade house project is my attempt to document as many of these as possible and provide resources and support to people wishing to handbuild their own home (be that a bus, tiny house, boat, treehouse, yurt, log cabin, etc).

that's a short way to say my joys in life come primarily from building things (mainly unique spaces and convivial tools), making music, working the land and cultivating meaningful relationships with the folk I meet along the way...
